Welcome Dr. Michael Radford
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. J. Michael Radford to the Department of Oncology in the Division of Malignant Hematology at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective August 1, 2024.
Dr. Radford is a hematologist specializing in the treatment of acute leukemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, and myeloid disorders at the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre. He is also a specialist in Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapies, having completed a two-year fellowship at McMaster University in 2023.
Dr. Radford completed his MD at Ross University in Florida in 2016, followed by internal medicine training at Western University in 2019. Subsequently, he completed his hematology and BMT training at McMaster University, along with a Master of Science in Health Research Methodology (2023). He has been working within the Malignant Hematology division during the past year in a locum position.
His clinical and research interests include: clinical trials in acute leukemia / myeloid disorders and transplantation, the impact of chimerism studies on outcomes and quality improvement including a recent Cochrane Systematic Review examining restrictive vs. liberal RBC transfusions for patients with hematologic malignancies treated with intensive chemotherapy or radiation with or without transplant. He also focuses on trial design, retrospective studies, and systematic reviews. Additionally, Dr. Radford holds several leadership positions including incoming chair for Hematology Grand Rounds.
