Welcome Dr. Alissa Visram, Malignant Hematologist

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Alissa Visram in the Department of Oncology at McMaster University as Assistant Professor and Hamilton Health Sciences as a hematologist specializing in the treatment of malignant blood disorders with a focus on the treatment of multiple myeloma and cellular therapies at the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre, effective February 1, 2025.

Dr. Visram earned her MD at the University of Toronto (2014). She completed her internal medicine training at the University of Ottawa (2017), followed by hematology training at Dalhousie University (2019). She further completed fellowship training at the Mayo Clinic, including an advanced hematology clinical fellowship (2020), followed by a research fellowship, focused on understanding the epidemiology of precursor plasma cell disorders (2021). She also completed a Master of Public Health and Clinical Epidemiology at Harvard University (2022). Dr. Visram has been working as a staff physician in the Division of Hematology at the Ottawa Hospital and Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, University of Ottawa since 2021.
Dr. Visram’s research focus is in clinical trials in myeloma and cellular therapies, along with translational research in natural killer cell immunology for treating multiple myeloma. Dr. Visram was the recipient of the competitive International Myeloma Foundation Young Investigator Award in both 2021 and 2022.

Dr. Visram will be actively involved in educational activities, including the supervision of residents, clinical research fellows, and undergraduate medical students.
