Resident Doctor Appreciation Week
On behalf of the Department of Oncology and the Program Directors for Radiation and Medical Oncology, Drs. Justin Lee and Ghazaleh Kazemi, we would like to thank our residents for their hard work and the important role they play as critical members of the care team at Hamilton Health Sciences. Residents are essential to care delivery and often the first physician point of contact for our patients. Residency is a key component of graduate medical training; the time marking the pathway from obtaining a medical degree to becoming an independent physician. It is an exhausting time period with residents tasked with learning their medical craft, teaching junior learners, passing licensing exams, all the while looking after patients.
The Juravinski Cancer Centre currently has 10 Radiation Oncology Residents and 8 Medical Oncology Residents. These conscientious, capable and kind physicians contribute to the supportive atmosphere that we are so proud of, and provide excellent patient care, while acquiring the skills and knowledge to practice independently as Radiation and Medical Oncologists once training is complete.
Be sure to thank a resident today!
Dr. Bindi Dhesy-Thind, Associate Chair, Education.
